We are looking for a warm, professional, and people-focused Receptionist to join our supportive Te Papa Manaaki | Campus Care team.
This is a rewarding and varied role where you will play an important part in creating a welcoming and supportive first impression for students, staff, and visitors accessing the service. As one of the first points of contact, you will help students navigate support services with empathy, professionalism, and care.
You will provide high-quality reception and administrative support while assisting with appointments, responding to enquiries, supporting service operations, and helping maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone accessing Te Papa Manaaki | Campus Care.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, thrives in a fast-paced and people-centred environment, and can remain calm and solutions-focused when supporting students experiencing distress or challenging situations.
You’ll be joining a collaborative and caring team that is passionate about student wellbeing and making a positive difference every day.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing warm, professional, and timely customer service to students, staff, and visitors in person, online, and over the phone
- Managing reception duties including appointments, enquiries, and student communications
- Supporting students accessing wellbeing and care services in a calm, respectful, and supportive manner
- Maintaining accurate student records and data entry while ensuring confidentiality and privacy requirements are upheld
- Using systems such as Symplicity Advocate and Microsoft Office applications to support service operations
- Helping maintain welcoming, safe, and tidy reception and waiting areas
- Assisting with triage processes and responding appropriately to students presenting in distress
- Supporting quality improvement activities and contributing to positive service delivery outcomes
- Managing student feedback surveys and providing monthly reporting support
- Working collaboratively across the wider Te Papa Manaaki | Campus Care team to ensure consistent, student-focused service delivery
This role also involves supporting operational procedures relating to health and safety, emergency response, and student wellbeing support.
This is a full-time, fixed term role for 18 months. The salary range for this role is $56,400 - $71,000 per annum.

- Experience working in reception and/or administration within a health, wellbeing, education, or support-focused environment
- Excellent customer service and communication skills across face-to-face, phone, and online interactions
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Confidence managing challenging situations and using conflict de-escalation skills where required
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands
- High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information appropriately
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and learning new client management systems
- A collaborative, positive, and solutions-focused approach to teamwork
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and culturally respectful practice
Experience working within a large and complex organisation, particularly within tertiary education or student support services, would be highly beneficial.
