    Here at Digital Services, we are responsible for the provision, maintenance, and support of information and communication technologies and business systems within the University of Otago community.

    We are one of the largest ICT operations in NZ, supporting 27,000 users, a big network across multiple campuses and a huge range of systems.

    The role | Te mahi

    As a Specialist - Identity and Access Management (IAM) you’ll be part of the Identity Team and a key player in our journey to modernise our core identity systems. You’ll provide advice to University peers around solution design, integration, testing and automation and ensure we provide seamless and secure user experiences.

    Being involved in the Identity program you will help develop IAM solutions for user provisioning, authentication and authorisation, all while ensuring the current systems remain functional. You’ll apply your knowledge and experience to ensure user identities are securely managed from onboarding to offboarding and any lifecycle events between, ensuring our University community have access to the right things at the right time.

    You will assist in developing and enforcing RBAC, security protocols and access audits, proactively identifying gaps and developing solutions to issues. You’ll keep up to date with emerging trends and technology to ensure our systems and solutions remain current, secure, and align with business needs and policies.

    This role is about technical expertise and collaboration. You’ll be part of a focused team helping to ensure our digital access processes remain secure, modern and support the University to ensure the success of our whole community.

    Key responsibilities include:
    • Advising digital peers and projects on identity and access management best practices and solutions.
    • Application of technical skills to design and implement IAM solutions and integrations.
    • Working collaboratively across specialist teams to ensure end-to-end identity services are delivered effectively and consistently.
    • Balancing security with the delivery of a strong user experience.

    Skills and experience | Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

    Essential:
    • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Cyber Security) or recognised qualifications appropriate to the role (CISSP, CIAM, Microsoft Identity certifications).
    • Considerable experience delivering IAM services in a medium-large or complex organisation.
    • Strong experience with IGA lifecycle processes (provisioning/deprovisioning, role modelling, access governance, authentication/authorisation).
    • Proven experience integrating IAM systems with enterprise applications, cloud environments and on-premise systems.
    • Experience configuring connectors and workflows between source and target systems.

    Preferred:
    • Advanced or specialist qualifications in IAM, cyber security, cloud architecture or related domains.
    • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem management capability.
    • Experience in Privileged Access Management platforms.
    • Proven ability to interpret requirements and contribute to IAM design.

    This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position. We have a strong preference that the role is located in Ōtepoti/Dunedin, however we will consider remote work.

    While the appointment range for this role is $99,364 to $107,888 (Top of the range $114,280) per annum, the exact salary is to be determined with the successful candidate.

    We offer five weeks’ annual leave, a 6.75% superannuation scheme, and the ability to achieve real work/life balance.
