Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The University of Canterbury is looking for an experienced Remuneration & Benefits Advisor to join our People and Culture team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting fair, transparent and evidence-based remuneration practices across a large and complex organisation.
Working closely with the Remuneration & Benefits Manager and wider People and Culture team, you will provide trusted remuneration advice, support annual salary and promotion reviews, and contribute to a range of remuneration and benefits initiatives.
You will work in an environment where understanding collective employment agreements, employment legislation and good-faith engagement is essential. Your analytical skills will be equally important, as you use remuneration data, benchmarking and reporting to support sound decision-making and equitable outcomes.
Mōu | Who You Are
You are an experienced remuneration or HR advisor with strong analytical capability, sound judgement and excellent stakeholder skills. You are comfortable interpreting employment agreements and legislation, working with sensitive information and providing clear, practical advice.
You will also be able to demonstrate experience in:
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, including remuneration data, benchmarking, modelling and equity analysis
- Experience coordinating remuneration projects, including planning, stakeholder engagement, and reporting
- Knowledge of NZ employment law, collective agreements and remuneration policy, with sound judgement in applying them
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, including working with union representatives
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
- An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
