    Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

    Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting Community Advisers to join the Campus Operations Directorate team in providing support to students living in university accommodation. These roles are available on a fixed-term, part-time contract for 15 or 30 hours per week.

    A focus on connecting residents to university services ensuring their academic success, wellbeing, welfare and health & safety is front of mind. To be successful in the role, we are looking for mature, fun, flexible advisers who can balance support for the students and meeting the University’s obligations for pastoral care in compliance with the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021.

    This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is passionate about working with students and creating a positive living and learning environment, is a team player, well-organised, proactive, quick to learn, and adaptable. You do not need to be a current student to apply.

    Key requirements:

    • Proven knowledge of what it takes to live successfully in communal living.
    • Experience organising and delivering events and maintaining budgets.
    • Experience living or working across cultures; with a particular understanding of Māori, Pasifika, and international students.
    • Computer literacy and knowledge; ability to use social media (Facebook, Instagram etc.)
    • Able to facilitate events programmes as required during the academic year.
    • Mature and responsible; maintains professional and appropriate relationships.
    • Demonstrates previous success at being a positive role model.
    • Demonstrates initiative and sound judgement, with an ability to think on your feet.
    • At least an NZ clean restricted driver’s license.
