The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
An exciting fixed-term opportunity (parental leave cover – 10 months) has arisen for a Payroll Specialist to join the team, responsible for delivering accurate and efficient payroll services while ensuring compliance and providing support to employees and stakeholders.
Your role and contribution:
- Proactively manage end-to-end payroll processing and administration, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with employment legislation and employment agreements
- Providing clear written and verbal communications with accurate attention to detail
- Putting yourself in the customer's shoes in your approach
- Contributing positively to the HR Shared Services team culture, workload, and improvements
- Maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive and personal information and contributing to good data governance.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of five years' NZ experience in a high-volume payroll process role (you can manage high transactional volumes)
- A thorough, demonstrable, and comprehensive understanding of New Zealand payroll legislation, including the Holidays Act and tax obligations (you understand what your processing)
- You can balance the need for payroll transactional processing, but also have a desire to make processes better through continuous improvement (you have a desire to always do better and a willingness to bring forward your ideas)
- Ability to work under pressure, on your own, and as part of a highly collaborative team
- You are customer savvy, understanding the need to apply empathy and navigate policy, including the importance of connecting internal teams to support complex or sensitive situations to completion
- You are super organised, have your fingers on the pulse, and understand the importance of getting people paid on time and accurately within tight deadlines.
