    The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi  

    We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Technician – Clinical Sciences to join the Faculty Technical Services team at AUT South Campus.

    This hands-on role provides technical and operational support for simulation-based teaching across a range of clinical programmes including Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedicine, Perioperative Practice and Counselling. Working closely with academic and professional staff, you will ensure specialist teaching spaces, clinical simulation equipment and consumable resources are prepared, maintained and ready to support practical learning.

    Your responsibilities will include setting up clinical teaching environments, maintaining and cleaning specialist equipment, monitoring consumable stock levels, coordinating equipment maintenance, supporting practical examinations and contributing to the day-to-day operation of clinical teaching facilities. You’ll also assist with equipment lifecycle management, inventory control and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the student and staff experience.

    Reporting to the Senior Technician – AUT South Campus, you’ll work collaboratively with academic staff, Faculty Technical Services colleagues and professional staff across the University. This role offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to student success through the delivery of high-quality clinical learning environments while supporting AUT’s Te Aronui framework.

    • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
    • Experience working in a clinical, simulation, health, laboratory or technical environment.
    • Knowledge of medical or clinical equipment and safe operating practices.
    • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and customer-focused approach.
    • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and other digital systems.
    • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
    • Physical capability to safely move equipment and clinical simulation mannequins.
    • A commitment to health, safety, continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery.
    • A commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and supportive of AUT’s Te Aronui journey

    Experience in a tertiary education environment, inventory management systems, simulation technologies or first aid certification would be advantageous but is not essential.
