    Our Team

    The ICT Teaching & Learning team sits within Client Facing Technology, ICT Services, and is responsible for the operation, support and continuous improvement of AV technology across AUT's teaching spaces, meeting rooms and specialist environments — ensuring learning environments are reliable, well-maintained and fit for purpose.

    We are a small, close-knit specialist team, and the Technical Lead is a central and valued part of it.

    The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

    We are seeking an experienced Audio Visual Technical Lead to join AUT's ICT Services team. Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager, ICT Teaching & Learning, this is a specialist, hands-on role responsible for supporting, maintaining and improving AV systems and services across AUT's teaching spaces, meeting rooms and specialist environments.

    You will provide specialist technical expertise across AUT's learning environments, working closely with the Senior Technical Manager, Learning Environment Analyst, ICT support teams and external vendors to support consistent AV standards, reliable service delivery, proactive maintenance and ongoing practical improvement across AUT's AV environment.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Providing specialist AV technical support across AUT's teaching spaces, meeting rooms and specialist environments
    • Coordinating and delivering proactive maintenance across AUT's learning environments
    • Maintaining and applying consistent AV standards, quality checks and operational readiness across existing spaces, new installations and upgrades
    • Supporting the evaluation, testing and deployment of new AV technologies and system updates
    • Working with vendors and service partners to support reliable AV outcomes and inform technology decisions
    • Sharing technical knowledge and practical guidance with ICT colleagues

    To be successful in this role, you will bring:

    • Solid hands-on experience supporting AV systems in a complex environment
    • Strong working knowledge of classroom AV, video conferencing, audio systems, control systems and related technologies
    • A practical understanding of networked AV and how AV systems operate within ICT environments
    • Good judgement, attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance, standards and improvement
    • Strong communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

    You'll also bring: familiarity with technologies such as Crestron, Biamp, BSS or Microsoft Teams Rooms; experience with commissioning, testing or operational handover; and relevant vendor, ITIL, networking or service management knowledge.
