    • Permanent role / 37.5 hours per week

    Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
    At University of Canterbury (UC), our print team plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, secure, and professional print solutions that support students, staff, and the wider university community. We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Digital Print Operator who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and takes pride in producing exceptional work.

    If you enjoy working with cutting-edge digital print technology, solving production challenges, and seeing finished products come to life — this could be the role for you. In this hands-on role, you’ll manage a variety of digital print and finishing tasks while helping ensure jobs are delivered accurately, securely, and on time.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Producing high-quality digital print work using in-house production equipment
    • Preparing and imposing files for successful print outcomes
    • Operating print finishing equipment including binding, trimming, folding, and dispatch preparation
    • Managing workflow priorities to meet tight deadlines
    • Handling secure and confidential print materials, including examinations
    • Supporting front-of-house customers with printing and binding enquiries
    • Operating the front-of-house Point of Sale used to complete card sales (not cash handling)
    • Monitoring consumables and maintaining production supplies
    • Ensuring every job meets quality standards before dispatch
    • Working collaboratively with the wider UC Print team to deliver excellent service.

    You’ll be someone who combines technical print expertise with strong customer focus and attention to detail.

    Ideally, be able to demonstrate:

    • At least two years’ experience operating digital print and finishing equipment, preferably within a tertiary environment
    • Strong knowledge of print production, finishing, and dispatch processes
    • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
    • Excellent organisation and time management skills
    • Confidence working under pressure and meeting deadlines
    • Strong communication and customer service skills
    • The ability to work independently and show initiative
    • A commitment to teamwork, inclusiveness, and continuous improvement
    • Experience with creative print finishing solutions will be highly valued
    • A willingness to undergo onsite training on new Latex print technologies and learn new skills
    • An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
