Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
As Project Manager – Minor Capital Works Projects, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital development projects across the University of Canterbury campus.
Working within Facilities Management, you will manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the University and external providers to drive successful project outcomes that support UC’s teaching, research, and operational objectives.
- Delivering capital works projects from planning to completion
- Managing project schedules, budgets, and risks
- Coordinating contractors, consultants, and stakeholders
- Monitoring project performance and reporting progress
- Managing procurement and contract processes
- Supporting continuous improvement and project reviews
Mōu | Who You Are
You are an experienced project management professional with a proven track record of delivering construction, facilities, or capital works projects in complex stakeholder environments.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Project management experience in a complex environment
- Success delivering multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong project planning, budgeting, and risk management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
Ideally, you will also have:
- Experience delivering construction or capital works projects
- Knowledge of government procurement processes
- Familiarity with NZS3910 or similar contracts
- Experience with Microsoft Project or similar tools
- Understanding of change management and health and safety requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification

The Facilities Management team supports the University’s teaching, research, and support functions through security, capital development, engineering and maintenance, and property and campus services.
Reporting to the Minor Works Programme Manager and working closely with the Capital Development team, you will partner with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and governance groups to deliver projects that enhance the University’s physical environment and strategic objectives.
