    Job Description:

    • Design engaging, evidence-based eLearning for AUT’s Required Learning Modules and the Aronui Ora programme
    • Join a collaborative Organisational Development team, working with subject matter experts and using tools such as Canvas, Articulate Storyline and Adobe
    • Permanent, full-time role based on AUT’s city campus.

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is New Zealand's newest university and one of its most distinctive. Centred on students and grounded in knowledge that works, AUT is 5-star rated by QS, with more than 27,000 students and 4,000 staff based primarily across three Auckland campuses. It's a place of real opportunity, where the values of Pono, Tika and Aroha shape how talented, progressive people work together – and you'll feel that in the culture, in the collaboration and in the difference the work makes for students, communities and the world.

Our community is stronger because of the role Te Tiriti plays in how we operate, and because Māori and Pacific knowledge, leadership and contribution are central to who we are. We embrace diversity in all its forms and are proud to welcome people of all ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religious and political beliefs, socio-economic situations and accessibility needs.

People and Culture (P&C) partners with leaders and staff across AUT to build a values-led, high-performing workplace. Within P&C, the Organisational Development team builds staff capability and designs learning that supports people to thrive in their roles, including AUT’s Required Learning Modules and the Aronui Ora programme.

The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

We’re looking for a Senior Learning Designer to join the Organisational Development team in People and Culture, reporting to the Director Organisational Development. You’ll be responsible for designing eLearning for AUT’s Required Learning Modules and for the Aronui Ora programme.

Through a design-led process, you’ll work alongside the Organisational Development team, the Aronui Ora working group and subject matter experts to create authentic blended learning experiences that bring evidence-based design principles into practice. You’ll plan, design and develop learning activities, quizzes and resources using authoring tools such as Canvas, Articulate Storyline and Adobe, and lead and manage a range of work strands and projects.

You’ll also build staff capability in the appropriate use of digital technologies and Required eLearning Modules, advising and supporting AUT staff and people leaders, and keeping across developments in curriculum design, pedagogy, assessment and emerging technologies, including the responsible use of AI in line with AUT policy.

The role contributes to Te Aronui, AUT’s Te Tiriti Framework, by giving practical effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in how learning is designed and delivered – work that is authentic, relational, accountable and mana-enhancing for all.

You’ll also bring cultural humility and respect for Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Indigenous peoples and diverse communities. Experience supporting Indigenous, equity or inclusion-focused initiatives is highly valued.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

    • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline area, or equivalent accreditation of standing.
    • Experience planning, designing and developing learning using evidence-based pedagogy and learning design methodologies for face-to-face, blended, flipped, mobile and online environments.
