Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Communication and Events Coordinator to join the Student Equity and Wellbeing Portfolio on a permanent, full-time contract.
Key responsibilities:
- Edit, format and send service newsletters.
- Create or edit service promotional material such as posters, digital displays.
- Create or edit, format and monitor social media copy, including video content.
- Plan, coordinate and deliver service-led events including event specific plans, logistics, material, promotion.
- Create or edit web content.
- Create simple, quality graphics to support the promotion of the services.
- Continually improve visibility and awareness of the services through effective promotion and audience engagement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with our service content experts, and communications, events, future students and transition colleagues.

You will be a highly organised, motivated, positive and confident person with excellent communication and events coordination skills who wants to make a difference doing meaningful work.
Key requirements:
- Experience in communications including social media, digital platforms and writing content.
- Ability to apply brand, tone of voice and plain language standards, with excellent grammar, copy-editing and proofreading.
- Hands on experience coordinating events end to end (planning, logistics, suppliers, run sheets, on-the-day delivery).
- Experience, knowledge and awareness of the University environment and the key issues for students.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to stay calm and confident when organising events.
- Ability to both plan ahead and also take an agile, responsive approach when service needs change.
