This is a rare opportunity to be part of a collaborative and dedicated HR team. We are looking for an experienced and confident HR generalist, who enjoys working independently to develop pragmatic HR solutions for clients, to join us.
The role | Te mahi
Working closely with the Divisional HR Manager and the Dean/Head of Region – Faculty of Medicine Christchurch, you will provide senior generalist HR advice and support to clients on our Christchurch Campus.
This will involve the provision of HR technical guidance and support on a range of issues including disputes resolution, personal grievances, management of conduct and capability, change management, training and development, recruitment and selection, health and safety support and effective implementation of HR policies, procedures and best practice.
You will have the support of a comprehensive HR infrastructure, and colleagues both within the HR Advisory team and across the wider Human Resources Division.

You will also have:
• A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
• Well-developed understanding of HR processes and policies.
• Recent experience in a generalist HR role.
• Excellent knowledge of NZ employment legislation and its application.
• Confidence with technology, including the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new digital tools and systems.
• Dedication to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner, including understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pasifika values.
You will be effective communicator and facilitator, with proven success in building effective professional relationships.

This is a permanent, part-time (28 hours per week) position based in Ōtautahi, Christchurch.
The University of Otago, Christchurch is the base for undergraduate medical and postgraduate health education and health research in Christchurch. We collaborate closely in our research and student programmes with the region’s hospitals run by Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, and other community health agencies.
The appointment salary range for this role is $101,739 to $110,396 per annum (pro-rata). Top of range is $119,053.
