Building Maintenance Lead

Job Description:

Lead planned maintenance and building projects to ensure campus facilities are safe, compliant, well-maintained, and fit for purpose.

Mō te tūka | The role

Join our Property Services Group team and play a key role in maintaining and enhancing Lincoln University's campus environment. This position is responsible for planning and delivering preventative maintenance programmes, coordinating building-related projects, managing contractors, and ensuring University facilities remain safe, functional, and fit for purpose for staff, students, visitors, and tenants.

Some tasks of the role include:

• Developing and managing planned and preventative maintenance programmes and budgets.
• Coordinating maintenance and capital projects from scoping through to completion.
• Engaging and managing contractors to ensure work is delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.
• Monitoring project costs, expenditure, and maintenance budgets.
• Leading and supporting maintenance staff to achieve operational goals.
• Identifying and implementing improvements that enhance asset performance and maintenance outcomes.

Working across a diverse campus portfolio, you'll combine your technical building expertise with project coordination, financial management, and people leadership skills to support the ongoing stewardship of the University's physical assets.

Mahi & Wāhi / Utu | Work pattern, location & salary

This permanent role is based at our Lincoln Campus and works 40 hours per week (1.07 FTE).

The salary for this position is circa $100,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Kā tino Pūkeka/Whēako | Essential skills/experience for the role

To be successful in the role you will have:

• A trade qualification in carpentry, with an LBP qualification preferred.
• Significant carpentry experience, ideally with exposure to planned and preventative maintenance programmes.
• Experience coordinating or managing building maintenance or construction projects.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple workstreams.
• A practical, cost-conscious approach to maintenance and project delivery.
• Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
• A proactive commitment to health and safety best practice.
• Leadership capability, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
