Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
The Student Health Service (SHS) provides high-quality general practice health care, counselling, mental health, social work, health promotion, chaplaincy and violence prevention services to University of Waikato students.
Working within the Student Health centre you will busy supporting day-to-day functions within the service through efficient administration, reception and patient management. Every day is unique and you need to be on your toes providing high-quality customer service to students and patients, managing appointments and enquiries, maintaining accurate patient information, and supporting the smooth operation of the clinic.
You will also contribute to general administration, financial processes, ordering, data management and continuous improvement initiatives, working closely with clinical, administrative and University colleagues.
Salary will be in the range of $60,046 to $72,636 based on the skills, knowledge, and experience you bring to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) based at our Hillcrest Campus. For more information on the role, please see the position description. Ko wai koe? – Who are you?
You will be an organised, service-focused administrator who can manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and a high standard of customer service.
You will bring:
2+ years' health administration and reception experience, with a good standard of written and verbal English.
Strong patient management system experience, ideally Indici, with knowledge of medical terminology and general practice workflows.
Excellent administration and digital skills, including appointment scheduling, clinical inboxes, document management, reporting and Microsoft Office.
Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and engage respectfully with students from diverse backgrounds.
A commitment to confidentiality, privacy and quality service, alongside a willingness to learn new systems, adopt AI technologies and contribute to continuous improvement.
