Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for an Events and Alumni Adviser, on a permanent, full-time basis. This role will be responsible for the organisation and delivery of key events across the Events and Alumni teams. These teams are part of Te Kura Tangata - Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO).

Key responsibilities:

  • Organise and deliver key alumni events.
  • Organise and deliver other events during busy work periods.
  • Support the Events and Alumni teams with operational processes.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will be a motivated, customer-focused individual who can take the initiative, and provide excellent administration and event compliance.

You will thrive in this role with an excellent manner with people, strong attention to detail, and self-management skills.

You will be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high performing team. You’ll need effective time management and forward planning to balance meeting deadlines and maintaining a high standard of service. The ability to remain calm under pressure and thrive while working with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Key requirements:

  • Experience in event or engagement coordination.
  • An understanding of event related equipment and technology.
  • Demonstrated experience of developing and maintaining effective relationships.
  • Proven ability to follow detailed protocols and instructions.
  • Capability to work as part of a team as well as having individual responsibilities.
  • Able to attend after hours’ functions on a regular basis.

The University has flexible working arrangements. Due to the nature of events work this is a front facing role requiring staff to be onsite for events including after-hours. The DARO team’s practice is remote working up to one day a week in consultation with your manager.
