We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Specialist who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of our students. This role plays a crucial role in supporting our students' well-being and academic development, and success. The role will be particularly focused on providing a single session approach, supporting triage, and responding to urgent requests. Our team works closely with other support services to provide a holistic and wrap-around support for students with additional needs.
We are looking for an experienced clinician who may come from a youth, educational, statutory, or community setting and has a proven ability to provide professional therapy. AUT is keen to employ people who may contribute to the diversity of the university and are passionate about the well-being of tertiary learners.
We have a new permanent position based on the city campus, with some location flexibility.
Nga haepapa matua | Key Responsibilities
As an experienced mental health professional with proven success in a therapeutic role, you will also bring:
- A demonstrated commitment in your practice to Te Reo Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and Tikanga Māori.
- A demonstrated commitment in your practice to Diversity and Inclusion.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant health profession such as social work, counselling, psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, or similar.
- Current annual practising certificate.
- Minimum of five years' clinical experience post qualification providing therapeutic intervention, assessment, risk management, and case management.
- We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in working with people who are neurodiverse, and experience working with Māori and Pacific young people.

Ngā Utu | Salary: $91,500 - $111,500 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
