Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
As the Dangerous Goods Transit Depot Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe receipt, storage, and delivery of hazardous substances across the University of Canterbury. You will maintain the Dangerous Goods Transit Depot in compliance with health and safety regulations, support the Jaggaer chemical inventory system, and contribute to a culture of safety and collaboration. This role is essential in supporting the operational needs of the University's Colleges, Departments, and Schools.
Mōu | Who You Are
You will be an experienced logistics and operations support professional with at least 1-2 years' experience, ideally in a medium to large organisation. You will also have:
- A National Diploma (NZQA Level 5) or equivalent experience working with hazardous substances
- A full driver's licence with a Dangerous Goods (D) endorsement
- Current Certified Handler certification (or ability to obtain)
- First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and database management skills
- Physical capability to perform the role's duties
- Competency in Microsoft Office and chemical management systems (e.g., Chemwatch, Jaggaer)
- A commitment to UC's values and cultural practices, with te reo Māori competency an advantage

You will be part of the Property and Campus Services team, reporting to the Dangerous Goods System and Depot Specialist. You'll also collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across the University to ensure safe and efficient delivery of hazardous substances.
