Calf Rearing Technician

Are you passionate about animal care and looking to immerse yourself in cutting-edge agricultural research? Massey University is calling for a Calf Rearing Technician to support our Dairy 1 and Dairy 4 Units during the calving season.

Working closely with the Calf Rearing Manager and Farm Technicians, you’ll be actively involved in the day-to-day rearing, feeding, and welfare of calves and young stock. You’ll also contribute to innovative research projects and uphold best practice in animal health, data collection, and farm operations.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 3 months, offering:

• A 5 days on / 2 days off roster (minimum 8 hours/day)
• Full provision of PPE 
• Hands-on experience across two farms with a combined herd of over 850 cows
• Exposure to research partnerships with AgResearch and Fonterra

To be successful, you’ll have:

• At least one full season of calf rearing experience
• A full, clean NZ driver’s licence
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
• A high standard of animal care and attention to detail
