AUT is on a mission to responsibly harness the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) - and we're looking for a technically skilled and collaborative AI Senior Technology Analyst to help lead the way.

This 2-year fixed term contract is a pivotal role. You'll provide hands-on evaluation of emerging AI tools, assess risks, and guide strategic implementation across the university. You'll influence university-wide AI decisions, ensure alignment with AUT's values and help build a trusted, future-focused AI capability.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

  • Lead the annual AI maturity assessment across the university and co-design improvement plans with teams. 
  • Continuously trial new tools and features, run proofs of concept, and recommend tools for use at AUT.
  • Work alongside ICT and academic teams to shape and support AI project implementation including identification of AI-related risks (including data sovereignty, cybersecurity and research ethics) and support mitigation.
  • Develop short training resources and co-deliver sessions that build staff confidence and capability.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and presenter, keeping leaders and staff informed of the fast-moving AI landscape.

Mō te tangata | About you

  • 5- 7 years' experience I technology strategy, data/ AI evaluation or similar roles.
  • Strong knowledge of AI tools and trends, and how they can be applied meaningfully in real world contexts. 
  • Confidence in hands-on testing, technical writing, and presenting to varied audiences. 
  • Inquisitive and forward-looking, with a genuine interest in emerging AI technology. 
  • Influential and personable, recognised as a trusted advisor by both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
