Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an experienced Tapuhi - Practice Nurse to join our team at Mauri Ora – Student Health and Counselling, on a part-time, permanent basis.

This is a clinical role, working with our awesome team of Nurses, GP's and Support staff to contribute to the delivery of effective quality primary care to Victoria University of Wellington students in a challenging and yet very rewarding environment.

You will also work closely with Student Counselling, Nurse Practitioners, Health Improvement Practitioners, the Health Coach and other Student Support teams.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

Ideally, you will have the following:  

  • Broad experience in a primary health care setting.  
  • Experience in triaging and assessment of acute needs.  
  • Experience in sexual health and contraception would be an advantage.  
  • Empathy and interest in working with a diverse student population.  
  • Experience and interest in working in Māori and Pasifika health an advantage.  
  • A genuine interest in younger people's health care needs.  
  • Familiarity and competence using Primary Care Medical Records Software.  
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate from the Nursing Council of NZ.

This role requires safety checking through the police vetting system under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
