Position Overview

Are you an experienced chef looking for a new challenge in a dynamic, student-focused environment? Massey University is seeking a skilled and passionate Chef de Partie to join our Commercial Services team at the Wellington Campus in this full-time permanent position.

About the Role

As a Chef de Partie, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality food and catering services across our student café, events, and functions. You’ll work with a dedicated kitchen team to ensure excellence in food preparation, hygiene, and customer satisfaction, helping us create a preferred dining experience on campus.

The salary band for this role is $49,237 - $65,267 based on skills and experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Preparing and presenting meals of a consistently high standard
  • Supporting the Head Chef in daily operations, stock control, and team coordination
  • Ensuring food hygiene and health & safety standards are met at all times
  • Contributing to event catering and special functions
  • Maintaining a clean, efficient, and well-organised kitchen environment
  • Role modelling professionalism and teamwork within the kitchen


What We’re Looking For

  • City and Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NZQA Level 4 qualifications
  • NZQA Food Safety 168 certification
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • A positive attitude and collaborative spirit
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, and customer service excellence
