The Graduate Research School is searching for a new Data Management Specialist to join our fabulous team. The Graduate Research School (GRS) offers support and researcher development for AUT postgraduate research students, supervisors and staff to assist in the growth of a vibrant research culture. The GRS has three portfolios: Researcher Education and Development; Policy and Progressions; and Examinations.
As the Data Management Specialist, you will be a key point of contact for academic and professional staff across the University. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and consistent reporting and validation of the University's research degree enrolments and completions to the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). You will have the ability to extract, interrogate, report on and derive insight from data. You will provide reports to senior leaders and provide quality advice and information used by central directorates, faculties and others, on issues that impact postgraduate research undertakings and performance.

To excel in this position, you will need:
- advanced analytical and technical skills, experience in running data queries, analysing data and report writing
- advanced computer literacy skills with a high level of competency in MS365 (Excel in particular), queries and databases.
- high level of attention to detail and a systematic approach to tasks
- a high degree of professionalism, a strong service orientation and an ability to communicate complex and sometimes technical information clearly and effectively
- strong interpersonal skills, patient, cooperative and customer-focused
- a thorough understanding of University regulations and procedures pertaining to postgraduate programmes
As well as having strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the Data Management Specialist needs to be proactive, resourceful, solution-focused, well-organised and responsive. You must have effective oral and written communication skills and be comfortable training others.
