Position Overview
Massey University | Ōteha (Auckland Campus)
Are you passionate about student development, fostering community, and enabling transformational learning experiences? We’re seeking a Student Development Coordinator to join our team at Massey University’s Ōteha campus in Auckland. This is a fixed-term, part-time role (22.5 hours per week) covering parental leave.
The salary band for this role is $68,864 - $97,902 per annum (pro-rated to part-time hours), depending on skills and experience but envisage we will be employing in the $75,000-$80,000 range.
In this role, you will:
Foster Connection and Belonging
Create inclusive opportunities for students to engage with campus life through events, partnerships, and student-led initiatives. You’ll embed te ao Māori, tikanga, and mātauranga Māori into programmes with integrity and authenticity.
Grow Tomorrow’s Leaders
Recruit, mentor and lead our Massey Guides and Co-Lab Facilitators. You’ll support their leadership development through training, supervision, and reflective practice.
Inspire Student Success
Design and deliver engaging programmes that build entrepreneurial, interpersonal, and civic leadership skills — helping both on-campus and distance ākonga realise their full potential.
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- Experience in learning and development — ideally in a tertiary, community, or youth setting
- Facilitation experience — with the ability to create inclusive, participatory learning environments
- Proven collaboration skills — you’re a confident team player who uplifts others and builds strong relationships
- A tertiary qualification and relevant training in facilitation, coaching, or leadership development
- Excellent communication and emotional intelligence
- Strong planning, organisational, and digital tool skills
- A commitment to bicultural practice and an understanding of te ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
