Position Overview

Massey University | Ōteha (Auckland Campus)

Are you passionate about student development, fostering community, and enabling transformational learning experiences? We’re seeking a Student Development Coordinator to join our team at Massey University’s Ōteha campus in Auckland. This is a fixed-term, part-time role (22.5 hours per week) covering parental leave.

The salary band for this role is $68,864 - $97,902 per annum (pro-rated to part-time hours), depending on skills and experience but envisage we will be employing in the $75,000-$80,000 range.

In this role, you will:

Foster Connection and Belonging
Create inclusive opportunities for students to engage with campus life through events, partnerships, and student-led initiatives. You’ll embed te ao Māori, tikanga, and mātauranga Māori into programmes with integrity and authenticity.

Grow Tomorrow’s Leaders

Recruit, mentor and lead our Massey Guides and Co-Lab Facilitators. You’ll support their leadership development through training, supervision, and reflective practice.

Inspire Student Success
Design and deliver engaging programmes that build entrepreneurial, interpersonal, and civic leadership skills — helping both on-campus and distance ākonga realise their full potential.

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Experience in learning and development — ideally in a tertiary, community, or youth setting
  • Facilitation experience — with the ability to create inclusive, participatory learning environments
  • Proven collaboration skills — you’re a confident team player who uplifts others and builds strong relationships
  • A tertiary qualification and relevant training in facilitation, coaching, or leadership development
  • Excellent communication and emotional intelligence
  • Strong planning, organisational, and digital tool skills
  • A commitment to bicultural practice and an understanding of te ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Why join us?

At Massey University, we are committed to being a Tiriti-led organisation that prioritises student wellbeing, belonging, and achievement. As part of our team, you will benefit from:

  • Five university holidays per year in addition to four weeks of annual leave
  • Subsidised Southern Cross health insurance
  • A generous employer contribution to superannuation
  • Staff study discounts and professional development opportunities
  • On-campus perks such as discounted gym membership
  • Flexible work arrangements and a collegial, supportive team environment

Make a real difference in the student experience. Apply now and help us shape future-ready graduates at Massey University.
