Mō te tūnga | About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative Subject Librarian to support teaching, learning and research activities from our Auckland campus. This permanent, full-time role sits within a small, high-performing team reporting to the Manager, Library Information & Research Services. You’ll primarily work with staff and students from the Colleges of Sciences and Humanities & Social Sciences, though this may evolve over time, so flexibility and adaptability are essential.
You’ll partner with subject librarians across all three campuses, contributing to a range of teaching and research initiatives, including non-course related learning opportunities. This is a role for someone who enjoys sharing knowledge, collaborating across disciplines, and supporting academic success and innovation through library services.
Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities
Information & Digital Literacy: Deliver course-integrated workshops, develop asynchronous learning content, and provide individualised support using tools like EndNote and other bibliographic software.
Research Support: Guide academic staff and students in literature discovery, publishing, open access, researcher profiles, and research impact measurement.
Outreach & Advocacy: Build strong relationships with academic staff, promote library services, and advocate for good information literacy practice.
Teamwork & Professional Development: Stay current with trends in academic librarianship, participate in projects, and contribute to strategic library initiatives.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Qualifications and experience
- A degree and a recognised professional library qualification
- Previous experience in a tertiary or academic library setting preferred
- Strong experience teaching information literacy and/or providing research support
- Excellent digital skills including referencing software, Microsoft 365 tools, and SharePoint
- Demonstrated involvement in projects or service innovation
- A genuine commitment to Massey’s Te Tiriti o Waitangi-led direction and inclusive kaupapa
