Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

As a Senior Space Planning Advisor, you will:

  • Review and proactively ascertain space needs for University departments and faculties.
  • Critically assess current space usage to deliver UC core functions efficiently.
  • Engage early with Faculties and Departments to understand growth needs and plan for physical space.
  • Positively influence stakeholder engagement with changes in ways and types of working.
  • Support the Campus Development and Space Manager with strategic and operational planning.
  • Become a subject matter expert in space solutions and approaches for a 21st-century tertiary environment.
  • Work within complex multi-stakeholder relationships and collaborate with all levels of the University.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff in good space planning principles.
  • Regularly report to the Space Manager about key initiative risks or space issues.

Mōu | Who You Are

You will be an experienced space planning professional with at least 3 years in a coordination and/or planning/advisory role, preferably in a large and varied property environment or institution. You will also have:

  • Business analyst skills in database systems (desirable).
  • Experience in delivering projects or physical space outcomes and change management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with evidence of success in complex negotiations.
  • Analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and well-organized.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Effective leadership, coordination, motivational, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills.
  • Ability to influence and build productive relationships with industry providers and stakeholders.
  • Active commitment to upholding the values, tikanga, kawa of cultural practice and traditions as guided by mana whenua, Ngāi Tūāhuriri, and valuing te reo Māori.
  • Competency in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga is an advantage.

You will work closely with the Strategic Space Manager, senior managers, executives, operations managers, academics, and other stakeholders across the University.
