Who we are | Ko wai mātou
Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is a vibrant, achievement-oriented, and rewarding place to work. As one of the world's top 30 millennial universities and New Zealand's newest, AUT offers a stimulating teaching and research environment with strong connections to business and industry. We have over 29,000 students across our three Auckland teaching campuses.
Our Learning Design team at LTED (Office of Learning, Teaching and Educational Design) is a central university service. In this role, you will cover a broad range of educational practices, which include innovative pedagogy, curriculum development, assessment, digital learning, and scholarship/pedagogical research. Our team supports strategic priorities in learning and teaching at AUT.
About the role | Kōrero mō te tūranga
In this role, you will be involved in a range of support activities across a variety of learning and teaching contexts. You will utilise your experience working with Learning Management Systems and other learning technologies, as well as your understanding of learning, teaching, and assessment processes in tertiary education, to effect change in the student experience and to build staff capabilities in technology-enhanced learning. The nature of the work is highly collaborative - building relationships with academic practitioners, learning technologists, professional staff and students is critical. You will also have opportunities to lead or engage in innovative learning and teaching projects.
About you | Kōrero mōu
Successful applicants will need to be able to hit the ground running and be able to demonstrate:
- Expertise and application of a range of learning technologies, with experience of offering advice, demonstrating problem-solving skills, supporting the evaluation of learning technologies and sharing best practices.
- Proven track record of excellent customer service and effective problem-solving
- Clear evidence of understanding of technology-enhanced learning, and evidence of applying knowledge of learning technology tools in learning, teaching and assessment practices.
- Experience with leading/supporting projects to achieve outcomes that meet project needs using collaborative approaches.
- Teaching/facilitation experience, especially in the provision of professional development, is desirable.
- A commitment to enacting Te Aronui, AUT's Te Tiriti framework , and a great fit with our team culture.
Culture | Ahurea
Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu | Adorn the bird with feathers so it may soar
LTED's whakatauki reflects the idea that a bird cannot fly without feathers, but if you give the bird what it needs, it can thrive. For us, this embodies the belief that as staff become more enabled and empowered, they will soar to great heights and be successful in their way.
Our philosophy is to support staff to do as much for themselves as they can, working as their partner in learning, offering them choice, encouraging their leadership, and modelling the AUT values of tika, pono, and aroha. These become the feathers they will use to spread their wings, and a korowai to protect them.
