The Academic Quality Office is a small, high-performing team within the portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and lead by the Director of Academic Quality.  The Office is responsible for academic quality assurance activities including programme development and approval, academic review, academic policy and regulations, and student surveys. 

The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

We're seeking an experienced, skilled and motivated Academic Policy Lead. This is a new, permanent full-time role in the Academic Quality Office and will work closely with the team and the Director.  You will be primarily responsible for leading the Academic Quality Office's academic policy work and for maturing processes to develop, review, communicate and monitor academic policies and procedures.  An important part of the role will be threading AUT's Te Tiriti o Waitangi framework, Te Aronui, through our policies and procedures. 

The role operates in a diverse and dynamic university environment and will be involved in range of academic quality matters, including working with students and understanding student voice to inform academic policy. 

Key focus areas include:

  • The use of high-level research, analytical and data skills to understand University and academic contexts and put forward effective policy solutions.
  • Working collaboratively with the Academic Quality Office team, and with a wide range of stakeholders in different roles across the University including students.
  • Ensuring that academic policies are evidence-based, current, accessible, clear and effective and support quality outcomes for students.
  • Ensuring that our academic policies align with Te Aronui, AUT's Tiriti Framework.
  • Designing internal protocols and processes for policy development, review and implementation.

  • Start Date: The successful candidate would ideally join AUT as early as possible.
  • Term: The successful candidate will secure a permanent appointment. A competitive remuneration package will be agreed, commensurate with skills and experience.
