Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

AUT is looking for an experienced and talented Cloud Technical Lead to join our innovative and high-performing Platform Team. In this crucial role, you will be at the forefront of managing, supporting, and advancing our Microsoft Azure environment, driving both innovation and technical excellence across the university.

We're seeking a Cloud expert with at least 8 years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure and operations, as well as strong expertise in Cloud Governance frameworks and best practices, and designing and managing Landing Zones. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, PowerShell, and automation tools. Expertise in Microsoft Entra ID. A solid understanding of Cloud Security architecture and best practices. "Microsoft fabric"  after Azure SQL "Security architecture and best practices. Experience with Linux, Kubernetes, and Azure SQL is highly desirable and will be beneficial in this role.

This role requires a relevant degree and a current Cloud Certification (Azure preferred). Your technical expertise will play a crucial role in shaping and evolving AUT's cloud strategy.

The successful applicant for this role will have:

Solution architecture: Developing and communicating a multi-dimensional solution architecture to deliver agreed business outcomes.

Innovation: Developing and implementing processes, tools, and infrastructures to support innovation Implementing innovation practices to support iterative/agile working

Technical specialism: The development and exploitation of expertise in any specific area of information or communications technology, technique, method, product, or application area.

Capacity management: The planning, design, and management of the capability, functionality, and sustainability of service components (including hardware, software, network resources, and software/infrastructure as a Service) to meet current and forecast needs in a cost-efficient manner aligned to the business.

Change management: The management of change to the service infrastructure, including service assets, configuration items, and associated documentation.

System software: The provision of specialist expertise to facilitate and execute the installation and maintenance of system software such as operating systems, data management products, office automation products, and other utility software.

IT Infrastructure: The operation and control of the IT infrastructure (typically hardware, software, data stored on various media, and all equipment within wide and local area networks) required to deliver and support IT services and products to meet the needs of a business.

Storage management: The planning, implementation, configuration, and tuning of storage hardware and software covering online, offline, remote, and offsite data storage (backup, archiving, and recovery) and ensuring compliance with regulatory and security requirements.

Problem management: The resolution (both reactive and proactive) of problems throughout the information system lifecycle, including classification, prioritisation, and initiation of action, documentation of root causes, and implementation of remedies to prevent future incidents

Incident management: The processing and coordination of appropriate and timely responses to incident reports, including channelling requests for help to appropriate functions for resolution, monitoring resolution activity, and keeping clients appraised of progress towards service restoration
