Position Overview

Join our team and play a pivotal role in enhancing student success and academic achievement. Collaborate with staff from the Centre for Learner Success to improve student transition, retention, and completion by providing essential academic support services. You will be involved in delivering learning, writing, and study skills support through 1-2-1 and small group interactions to enable our students to develop the skills they need to achieve their academic goals and become independent learners.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

We are looking for a Writing Consultant to join a dedicated academic support team at Massey University, on our Palmerston North campus.

The position requires a skilled professional who can provide academic reading, writing, and study skills support to assist our tauira to become independent learners and ultimately succeed at university study.

Our ideal candidates will have:

  • A recognised teaching qualification is highly desirable.
  • A Master’s qualification is essential.
  • A thesis-based PhD is highly desirable.
  • Excellent academic writing skills. 
  • Significant experience in higher education teaching and/or academic support sector. 
  • Knowledge of the issues and barriers for students in tertiary education and for Māori, Pacific, Disabled and Rainbow/Takatāpui people.
  • Competency in, or a willingness to undertake professional development in, Te Reo Māori, Tikanga and Te Tiriti principles.

 

The salary band for this position is $56,622 to $80,006 based on skills and experience.

N.B. This position operates an unpaid non-work period between semesters. This includes the three weeks between semesters one and two and during the summer period from mid-November to mid-February.
