The School of Science is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and experienced Senior Technician to join our technical team at the City Campus in Auckland CBD. Our school specialises in environmental and marine science research and teaching.  We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to support teaching, research and field activities in these areas.

Key responsibilities of this role, reporting to the Laboratory Manager- Biology and Environmental Science, include:

  • Provide technical support and training for teaching, research and field activities to students and staff.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the School of Science's Living Laboratory field site.
  • Support the school's compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage and maintain the environmental and marine sciences lab and field equipment, including the school's fleet of field vehicles.
  • Contribute to the development of field work protocols and enforcement.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a laboratory and field technician in a science discipline, and has experience with driving field vehicles including 4WDs and towing of trailers. You will have a high level of physical fitness and available to work outside normal business hours on regular occasions, to support fieldwork activities.  You will be able to demonstrate initiative, motivation, resilience, flexibility and possess a strong desire to succeed both individually and as part of a collaborative team.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $96,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
