  • Part-time 22.5 hours per week (0. 6 FTE)
  • Fixed term position from 3 February 2025 for 12 months

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
Utilising your considerable experience in engaging with a wide variety of clients, you will be responsible for providing accessible counselling services to UC students.

This can be delivered via a variety of different interventions but with a focus on brief interventions that are time-limited, using 30-minute appointments.

You will advise students on wider UC services and the process for engagement in the full sessional counselling service.

You will aim to meet the holistic needs of students, and liaison with colleagues both within and external to the Health Centre will be crucial.

Mōu | Who You Are
Ideally you will have a bachelor's degree and higher qualification in a relevant discipline such as Counselling or Social Work, or Psychology as well as holding a current registration or professional membership.

Along with this you will have:

  • A commitment to contributing to improving health equity
  • Excellent record keeping, case note and report writing skills
  • The ability to engage with clients from diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • The ability to work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team of health practitioners
  • The Interpersonal skills to be able to work effectively in a consultative and team environment
  • Have knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint - experience using a Practice Management System such as MedTech would be advantageous

The Health Centre is a clinic devoted to providing excellent Medical, Counselling and Related Services to the Students and wider community of the University of Canterbury, thereby enhancing the identity and wellbeing of that Community - The team comprises doctors, nurses, counsellors, practice manager, administrator, receptionists, health coaches, and a health improvement practitioner.
