Position Overview
Massey’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a state-of-the-art, fast-paced facility offering New Zealand’s most comprehensive veterinary expertise providing 24/7 Emergency Critical care for Vet clinics throughout the wider Manawatū-Whanganui region. With afterhours care to practices all over the Manawatū, our community practice team enjoy a varied role that touches on all aspects of care.
About the role
We are seeking a qualified Veterinary Nurse or Veterinary Technologist to join our Companion Animal Hospital team in a permanent, full-time evening shift position (Monday to Friday 3-11 pm). In this role you will be providing treatment of non-critical patients and, when necessary, aiding the emergency critical care nursing team. As we are an active teaching hospital, you will guide veterinary students in their clinical learning, offering constructive feedback and fostering their development in a supportive, hands-on environment. You will work closely with students as they gain confidence in delivering treatments, managing cases, and improving their practical veterinary skills and your teaching will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of veterinary professionals.

What We are Looking For:
- Qualifications: Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent), with at least 2 years of experience in general practice or teaching.
- Passion for Mentorship: A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and supporting veterinary students, with a focus on their professional and personal development. Experience in guiding students through clinical practice and providing constructive feedback is highly valued.
- Communication & Organisation: Excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to stay organised while managing multiple responsibilities.
